Ready for a nightcap

Poor Scarlett. She doesn't even get a say on what her mommy puts on her. I found these adorable pajamas and couldn't resist putting on the cap. Babies just don't stand a chance.

Car seat hair

Last weekend we took a day trip to Alice, TX for Scarlett's great grandmother's suprise birthday party. On the trip back home Scarlett did not sleep until the last 30 minutes of the trip. She had a meltdown and we had to stop and get her out of her car seat for a few minutes. You see, she hates her car seat. When we finally got home (it was 10:30 p.m.), we took her out of her clothes to put pajamas on her, but this is what she looked like out of the car seat. It was so funny.
(and, yes, that is the rent house yellow walls - can you see why we're anxious to move into our new house)

Peek-a-boo

I recently bought a play yard for Scarlett and she was standing in it and this was the view from the other side.
But it didn't end there. At home, she was using the coffee table to help herself stand.

Road block

Hey, where did this come from? I can't get to the other side.

Can you move it? Why does it need to be up?

What's up, doc?

Learning to stand

Scarlett has finally learned to crawl, but she didn't want to stop there. She's determined to stand. She will use anything to help her stand.
But then she falls.

AND THEN it got worse. Just before bedtime she learned to use her crib rail to stand. You'll see Gerry's arms in the picture. I had him come in to see.

She has a crib tent that we put on when we left her bedroom door open so the cat wouldn't get in it, but we started to close her door so we didn't zip the crib tent anymore. Now we have to zip her crib tent again until we can lower her crib. Boy, these things happen so fast. You're anxious one minute for them to learn and when they do you realize they're growing up and wish they didn't.

Sippy cup

We've recently introduced the sippy cup to Scarlett who didn't waste any time trying it out.

Mattress shopping

We went mattress shopping this past weekend and Scarlett loved trying out the mattresses. I don't know what it was about it, but she would roll all over the mattress. She must have liked the fabric on it. It made her silly.

I want your hair

Oh, you have such pretty hair. I want it!

What? I don't have a lot of hair, I can use some of Sara's.

Big sis, Sara, visits

My big sister, Sara, came to visit and we had a great time together. She was now able to feed me a bottle. It gave us some bonding time before she leaves for her three week trip to Europe. When she gets back, she'll come back and visit and show me all her pictures and tell me about her trip.

Happy Father's Day

Gerry had two Father's Day. For some reason, I thought last Sunday, June 10th was Father's Day so we presented him with his gift and then brunch at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. We celebrated twice.Scarlett helped her Daddy read his card, open his gift and to top it off, they posed in their matching chairs. Scarlett isn't sitting very still because she is preoccupied with the ladybugs on her shoes. We finished the day off with some nice photos at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and even I managed to get a photo with Scarlett.

I want some of your icee

On a recent trip to Target, Gerry decided to grab a jolly rancher apple icee. Well, combine a bright green icee in a red cup and you can bet it will attract a baby's attention.

No more reading

Gerry and I recently made a stop at Border's and Scarlett was just too tired for any reading.

Swim lessons cont'd

Swim lessons

Just four days after turning six months old, I enrolled Scarlett in swim lessons since we will have a pool at the new house we're building. Turns out she's the youngest one in her class. All the other babies are one to two years old. Even though there are a few things she doesn't understand yet like when to kick or blow bubbles, I know before too long she'll take off and may swim the English Channel. Ok, maybe that's a bit much, but at least she'll be a strong swimmer. After her first swim lesson. I was there by myself and had no one to take pictures during the lessons.
BUT thanks to big sister, Sara, came to visit the week of her second swim lesson and was able to take pictures. Here Scarlett poses in her bikini.
(Check next posting for actual swim lesson pictures. Some of the pictures are taken through the glass so they're not perfect shots and you will notice in some pictures that Scarlett was a little clingy. She didn't have a good day on this particular day.)

Corpus visit

Scarlett went down to Corpus to meet her new cousin Allison who was born on May 5th. She was able to spend some time with her great grandma and grandma (on Mommy's side).Scarlett looks like a giant next to her cousin Allison who is only three weeks old in this picture.

Six months old

So I'm a little behind in updating the blog. Things have been a little crazy at home, but at long last here are updates.

On June 1, Scarlett turned six months old. It's so hard to believe six months have gone by.
