Audition tape for "American Idol"

Two nights ago, Scarlett was happily playing in the playroom with one of her books that plays music. She loves to sing at the top of her lungs. Though it was so cute to me, I don't think Simon Cowell will like the fact that she didn't know all the words to the song - what does he expect? She's only two. She's definitely our American Idol.
In this first video (Michael - this song is dedicated to you) she was trying to sing the "Cookie" song sung to the tune of "On Top of Spaghetti". It's from an Elmo book. Normally she knows the words, but it's been awhile since she sang it and well, the video speaks for itself. The song's words:
"Please find me a cookie, oh, find one for me. If me have one cookie, how happy me be. Just one little cookie, if one can be found. Please find me a cookie so yummy and round"
Second video - trying to sing "All Around the Mulberry Bush" This one is a little more difficult for her to remember all the words. She mumbles over those words. What? Don't tell me you haven't done it yourself when singing a song you can't remember all the words to - what's your excuse? She's only two so it's okay.

This last video is dedicated to my sister, Adriana, who came to visit a few months ago and Scarlett kept singing this song over and over that she went home singing it. Scarlett still sings this song. It's her absolute favorite.

Daddy time continues

This past Saturday, we went for an early dinner and then headed over to the park. It was the perfect time because as we got there people started leaving to start their dinner so before too long we had the park all to ourselves. On this particular evening, Daddy was the designated playmate for Scarlett.

There is one slide on this playground that Scarlett would never get on because it was so high and it was a straight shot down the slide. That day she decided she would be brave and go down the slide, but not before getting Daddy to go first.
Check out the video at the end where Scarlett is chasing Gerry or vice versa. I love the noises she makes.
I don't know I don't see Scarlett anywhere. I'm thinking Gerry was being a kid all over again.
Is it safe?

Pre-Easter egg hunt

One of the parks in our area was hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on a Saturday. It was supposed to be a gorgeous day - 80 degrees, sunny, but they failed to tell us that it was going to be a little cloudy in the morning and cold.
That morning Scarlett woke up with a stuffy nose so she wasn't herself, but she made the best of it and we didn't stay long since we were cold. We stayed long enough for her to do the Easter egg hunt. Gerry was designated photographer, but he had a hard time getting photos because the area was packed with children and parents. Scarlett wasn't too keen on getting the eggs until I told her there was candy in them and then she was all for it, except she wanted to open them every time she picked one up. She finally understood to put them in her basket and we would open them later.

At one point we had Scarlett take her Easter basket to the Easter bunny to get a treat and she was all for it until he turned around and moved and she ran back to us crying. Why do they make those bunnies so scary-looking?
Scarlett's Easter egg hunt buddies - Twins Ava & Gabby, Alexa, Scarlett. They are all about 6 months apart.

Time to sit down and open the eggs and eat the candy. That is a Sweet Tart in her hand.

Daddy love

Apparently our trip to San Diego was also father-daughter bonding time because was loving on her daddy the entire trip and especially after she woke up from nap after the zoo. We were at Panera Bread eating lunch and she wanted to sit by daddy and then was on a nonstop kissing spree with him. It actually was the sweetest thing to watch.
Not sure what's going on here, but it looks to me like she's saying "he's mine, Mom, so you better watch out".
Think she's buttering daddy up for a Porsche in the future - ha!
"Awwww"

San Diego Zoo

Whenever you go to San Diego, you have to visit the San Diego Zoo. It is absolutely gorgeous and huge and great exercise. There are so many uphills and downhills and then some. Scarlett's favorite thing in the whole zoo were the snakes. It was the first thing we saw when we got there, but I didn't take any pictures because it was hard with so many people and the lighting wasn't that great so you wouldn't be able to see the snake. She always wants to see the snakes when we go to the zoo. Go figure.

Scarlett had no interest in the elephants. It's like she saw them everyday running around the neighborhood. Unbelievable.

The peacocks just roam freely and walk up to anyone especially if you have food. Notice Scarlett picking up her legs. She was afraid it was going to eat her legs. She kept saying "he not eat the legs".

Looking at the meerkats. You can see one in the far left of the picture. Notice Gerry andthe meerkat have the same pose - interesting.

She was tired of seeing the monkey who is in the left side of the photo.

I know not a great shot of the hippo, but what do you expect with tons of people around and the hippo is underwater. What was hilarious about this is that Scarlett likes to see the hippos and it was the first time she saw one this close, well, the hippo decides to "poo" and Scarlett was looking at the right spot on him when he did it and she yells out "he poo poo'd" "the hippo went potty in the water".

Result after leaving the zoo.

Daddy, I want a Porsche

The things that thrill our little ones. While in San Diego, we stayed with our friends, Becky and Richard. Scarlett's highlight of the trip was going for a "joy ride" in Richard's Porsche from the drive-way into the garage. Did we make a mistake letting her in the Porsche? We may have set her bars real high for the future - yikes!

A day at the beach

Again, still in San Diego, we went for a walk on the beach. Of course we didn't get in the water. It's way too cold.
Scarlett said she wanted to touch the water with her feet and well, when push came to shove, you guessed it, she would not let go of Daddy.
Our friends, Tara, Becky with Scarlett and Gerry. Tara will be getting married in September and has asked for Scarlett to be the flower girl. We're excited about our next trip to San Diego.
