Scarlett - an American classic

Halloween is now over and I would have to say that Gerry and I had fun with Scarlett's costume this year. She was truly an American classic icon - Scarlett O'Hara. I will warn you now that you will see quite a few pictures as I, as her mommy, think are worth everyone seeing.

You might notice a few quotes from the movie "Gone with the Wind" that I felt paralleled with Scarlett's pictures. Quotes from Scarlett O'Hara's character will be italicized. Enjoy!!
"Well, what is it? Be quick."

Scarlett assessing the land.

"Great balls of fire! HICCUP! It's Rhett!" (or in this case, Daddy)

"I only know that I love you."

"I can shoot straight, if I don't have to shoot too far."

"...As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."

Row, row, row your boat

Scarlett has really started singing quite a bit. I was able to get her to sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". She also sings her ABC's, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Jesus Loves Me, and many others to name. I just love to listen to her sing. She does a lot of her singing when she wakes in the morning and after her nap, but occasionally can catch her singing throughout the day.
The sound of a toddler singing is so joyous and makes me swell with pride to watch her grow and learn more and more every day. It's bittersweet.

Pudding face

Scarlett has discovered how great chocolate pudding is thanks to her mommy. I now have to hide it in the fridge or that will be all she wants to eat.

What amazes me is that she hates to get her hands dirty. At Mother's Day Out, she won't participate in finger painting because she doesn't want to put her hands in the paint. They have also played with shaving cream and yet still no desire to put her hands in it. So these pictures show that it must be sweet and chocolatey in order to justify her getting dirty.

Texas-OU weekend

"Oh, come on OU, run, run, run!"
OU lost - what a bummer!

Ballet, why not?

Scarlett's friend, Alexa, is in ballet and invited Scarlett along to join her one day. Alexa let her borrow one of her ballet outfits and no shoes were needed since Scarlett was just there as a one time thing.
Scarlett enjoyed running and jumping around on the ballet floor and then froze when the teacher and the other kids arrived. She spent the rest of the class watching from the doorway.
I was able to snap a few pictures of the two before class started. Look closely, looks like Scarlett has the toe pointing down and in the other picture, she's showing off her dancing skills.

Cookies and milk

We have this video that Scarlett loves to watch over and over. It has really cute songs and this is one of her favorites. I was able to get her to sing along as she ate her cookies and milk.

First sleepover guest

This past Saturday we watched our friends' two year old daughter, Alexa, so they can celebrate their anniversary kid-free. Alexa's parents dropped her off early afternoon just in time to enjoy the trampoline with Scarlett.

After jumping in the trampoline, we went to the park (sorry, I forgot to take a picture) and ended the day with a treat - gelato. Those two girls wore themselves out and each were in bed by 8 p.m.
