Going for a trolley ride

In Uptown Dallas, they offer a free trolley ride up and down McKinney Ave. We, as parents, are always looking for a free entertaining deal for the kids. We joined our friends and took Scarlett and her friend, Tyler, on a trolley ride back in August 2009.

The highlight of the ride was that they both were allowed to blow the whistle.

Favorite cookie

At least once a week, we make it out to Corner Bakery where they serve Scarlett's all-time favorite cookie - M&M cookie. This particular outing back in August 2009, Barney came along for the ride and a look. Think he's hoping she'd learned a few things from his shows about sharing.

Oh they drive so young

Back in August 2009, Scarlett was in a phase of wanting to "turn the wheel" in our cars. The good thing is she always knew to put on her seatbelt.

Now I know you're wondering why is she in her diaper. Remember I said it was in August 2009. It was a very HOT day and then being parked in the garage made it worse. I had to open the garage door, open all windows and sunroof and peeled her out of her clothes to stay cool while as the patient mother sweated to death right next to her. What a great mother I am!! (haha)

Flower girl - San Diego 2009 - Day 3 Wedding Day

The morning of the wedding, the bride & groom had made the decision to have wedding party photos shot before the wedding to keep guests from waiting as long after the wedding. (Matt & Tara)
To pass the time while waiting our turn, Scarlett once again took to the rock. She was a very happy girl just jumping off the rock over and over and over again, but it was time for pictures and this is when it all went downhill.
She cried the entire time during photos. My poor friend was only able to get pictures of her flower girl crying. I knew her wedding was doomed as far as flower girl performing her duty was concerned.
But Scarlett wasn't alone. They couldn't keep the ring bearer from running away.
But come performance time, we are proud to show you how great Scarlett did in performing her duty as the flower girl.

She was ready to party now at the reception.
She even decided to take pictures at the reception of everyone. We tried to tell her the camera was backwards, but she wouldn't listen. Nice smile!!

Flower girl - San Diego 2009 - Day 2 Rehearsal

The morning of rehearsal day, we went for a walk on the beach and to look at all the surfers.
You see Scarlett likes the beach...to an extent. She doesn't want to put her feet in the sand or the water. She wants her daddy to hold her.
Gerry's attempt to get her feet in the water.

Rehearsal time - I stood back and let the coordinator and the bride's mother take charge with Scarlett. Scarlett did a great job listening to both of them. I was the proud mother watching her daughter cooperate and do what she was told to do. It's going to be a beautiful wedding.
Scarlett had to end the rehearsal jumping off the rock. Little did we know how much she would love that rock.

Flower girl - San Diego 2009 - Day 1

In late September, we took a trip to San Diego for a close friend's wedding. My friend or more like family to me (known her since she was two years old) had asked if Scarlett would be her flower girl. We were very honored that she asked and were more than willing to oblige.

We arrived a day early and spent some time in La Jolla to take in the scenery. What followed were a few cute pictures of Scarlett mimicking her dad in body position.

First day of ballet

I apologize to all for being negligent in keeping Scarlett's blog up-to-date so I am now going to play catch up. Facebook as occupied my time and realize not everyone can see the photos I have posted on Facebook.

On September 17, 2009 was Scarlett's first day of ballet. I was hesitant about putting her in ballet, but had heard great things about this ballet group that is taught at our church called the Dancing Angels. The little songs and dance are geared toward God so I thought let's give it a try.
Dressed and ready to go
Having fun while waiting for class to start
She seems to be enjoying herself waiting in line to get into the classroom
But the excitement wore off and next thing you know one of the teachers is holding her while she cries. They brought her back out to me which was a mistake because after a 30 seconds of crying, Scarlett is usually fine. I walked her back in and told the teacher that she would cry for no more than 30 seconds and she'll be fine.
Does mommy know her daughter or what?
